Prior to starting Tager IP Law, Cliff worked as a Patent Examiner at the US Patent & Trademark Office, as a Patent Agent for Banner, Birch, McKee and Beckett (now Banner Witcoff), and as in-house patent counsel at Schlumberger-Doll Research Center and Otis Elevator/United Technology Corporation. Cliff also worked in the research department of Reliance Electric Company writing software application programs, and building and testing prototypes of microprocessor-based control systems.
Cliff was the founder of several start-ups, including: Hudson Technology Corporation, a technology company devoted to developing solutions specific to defense and homeland security concerns; Hudson Valley Trading Group, a financial services company in the field of electrical energy futures; and Atlanta Painting & Roofing Company, a property-improvement company in the commercial and residential space.
Cliff has also been an officer and director on several corporate boards, both for-profit as well as nonprofit, including RDC International, a pre-IPO company in the field of wireless B2B applications primarily directed to real estate professionals, financial brokerage firms and outside sales agents.
Cliff is a member of the Bar in the State of Connecticut and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He is also Registered Patent Attorney registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Cliff earned his J.D. from George Washington University, with an emphasis on intellectual property, trade and commercial law, and participated in both the Giles Sutherland Rich IP Law Moot Court Competition, as well as the Jessup Cup International Law Moot Court Competition.
Cliff received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Cleveland State University, Fenn College of Engineering, with a concentration in digital electronics, computer systems and software. He was Vice President of Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Honor Society), President of Eta Kappa Nu (National Electrical Engineering Honor Society), and Vice-President of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
